Recurring case: North Valley Recreation and Wellness

Several chapters follow a fictional organization called North Valley Recreation and Wellness, abbreviated NVRW. NVRW operates four recreation and wellness centres and offers memberships, drop-in activities, registered programs, facility rentals, and community events. Its leadership wants to understand uneven demand across locations, improve member retention, plan future capacity, and use limited marketing and program resources more effectively.

The case is entirely synthetic. Its records, people, locations, values, and results are invented for instruction. Because the same organization appears throughout the book, readers can see how project framing, documentation, EDA, secondary research, modelling, forecasting, CLV, recommendations, and communication depend on one another. Shorter examples from other industries provide contrast where a different setting is more appropriate.
