14.2 Full report structure

A substantial applied report will commonly include:

  1. title page;
  2. table of contents;
  3. executive summary;
  4. organizational context and problem;
  5. objectives and analytical questions;
  6. data and methods overview;
  7. integrated findings;
  8. forecasts or projections where relevant;
  9. conclusions and recommendations;
  10. implementation and evaluation considerations;
  11. limitations;
  12. references; and
  13. appendices.

Technical methodology, detailed diagnostics, supporting tables, code, and the data dictionary usually belong in appendices unless the audience needs them to understand the main conclusion.

The report should integrate profiling, modelling, projection, secondary evidence, and recommendations when relevant. These should not appear as isolated demonstrations.
