13.11 Dashboards and Power BI

A dashboard should be organized around recurring questions and decisions. Each page should have a purpose. Filters should be necessary, clearly labelled, and consistent. Measures should use explicit denominator logic, and totals should be reconciled with source data.

Avoid placing every available visual on one page. A dashboard is not useful because it is interactive; it is useful when interaction helps the audience answer a meaningful question.

Quality standard: A figure should communicate its intended comparison accurately at the size, medium, and viewing conditions in which the audience will use it.
